Airport Food in Valencia

Waiting on a flight to London, we were getting a bit hungry and needed to go through the standard long schlogging walk through the airport food malls of TGI Fridays, Chili's To Go, and the parade of fast fried food fare.

But wait. We are in Spain and the choices at the airport are so so so different. We found this place called La Pausa.

Grab n Go Choices

Even in the Grab n Go section are standard sandwiches, some gorgeous salads, and your choice of champagne, red, white, or rose. We are totally not in Kansas any more, Toto.

Banners around proclaimed their lunch meal deal of paella and something else that didn't register because, paella?!? Wow. In fact, they were making the paella as we walked by, with its jumbo shrimp, saffron rice, and what looked like red bell peppers. I suddenly got the urge to accidentally miss my flight.

For Dottie and me, we both went for the breakfast meal deal of tuna sandwich with sliced egg, Spanish (of course) olives, fresh squeezed Valencia (of course) orange juice, and a coffee with milk for her and an espresso for me.

The rock star of this impromptu yumminess was the bread, which came right out of the oven, rather than being freshly unwrapped from its crinkly plastic right from the cardboard carton, which was pulled out of the back of the truck that brought it to you from 500 miles away.

There's just a different standard. This is airport food.
