There is something very special about the kitties of Istanbul. First of all they are everywhere, feral, and owning your sidewalks, window ledges, car hoods, and door mats like only cats can do.

What’s more interesting than that is the symbiosis they have with this city. They belong to Istanbul and Istanbul belongs to them.

I never saw one instance of someone shooing, pushing, hurting, and being anything other than kind to them. In fact, people go out of their way to give them a little pet, a bit of food, and some love before they each go on their separate ways.

The kitties of Istanbul do not belong to anyone, they belong to everyone.
