What's Next For Us

On Nov 10, we will set sail for Cape Verde, about 880 miles from our current berth in the Canary Islands. This trip will take us out to sea for about 6 days. We have another person on as crew, which is SO helpful when we set watches and sail through the night.

Coming from Rabat, Morocco one of the things I loved most about the Canaries is the bread! OMG, after not having amazing bread for weeks, stopping by the little Panaderia with that crunchy baguette coming all caliente out of their bin is a religious experience in my mouth. My little daily Panaderia pilgrimage.

Next up is Cape Verde, which as a West African cuisine laced with Portuguese influence as well as Southwestern Europe, and of course West Africa. Very much like the Portuguese Cataplana, the Cape Verdean national dish is Cachupa. It is a hearty tomato based stew that highlights their amazing fresh fish.

But the key will be their spicing, and am super excited to learn about the West African influence on the food!

If you have been to Cape Verde and have recommendations, please let me know so we can go by, try it out and take pics! We can be your food investigators, lol.
